the whole of the forts, and this was in the outer main-
land fort commanding the West entrance. The whole of
the mainland forts, which has not already been blown
up by the Chinese, are being destroyed, and those guns
which cannot easily be moved, disabled and I noticed,
as we passed through Port Arthur on our way here, that
the lighter guns there are also being removed.
The transports that brought the Japanese
Army to Yunycheng bay had 6 weeks provisions for that
arsy
Army.
and 3 months provisions for the whole of the 2nd
These have been landed at Port Arthur and
Talienwan, whilst operations were going on against
Wei hai wal.
Taylor and myself have come back to
refit, and return, as we suppose, in a few days to
Kinchou, which we take it will be the starting point of
the next move towards Peking.
